FAQ's

When is your next litter of puppies coming?
At Cavoodles by the Sea, we breed minimally and thoughtfully by choice, which means we only plan a very limited number of litters each year. We don’t wish to own too many dogs, and this approach allows us to give our mum’s and her puppies the time, care and attention they truly deserve.

Our next litter is being thoughtfully planned for early 2026. If you’d like to be kept updated about this very special litter, follow our journey via Facebook, send us an email or apply via the ‘Application Form’ tab on our website.

What is a ‘Theodore’?
The Theodore is a developing breed currently recognised by the Master Dog Breeders Association (MDBA), with a preliminary breed standard already in place. While commonly known as Cavoodles, the name 'Theodore' has been introduced to distinguish those bred with purpose, clarity, and adherence to evolving breed standards, marking a commitment to the long-term betterment of this wonderful breed.

What makes your breeding program different?
We are a small scale, ethical, home-based breeder, raising our Cavoodles/Theodores in a loving family environment where they receive daily love, socialization, and enrichments. Every breeding decision is guided by ethics, health and the future of the breed - never by volume of puppies.

How are your puppies raised?
Our puppies are lovingly raised in the heart of our family home, where they are embraced as part of our everyday life from the very beginning. With great care and intention, we follow two highly respected, science-backed programs, Puppy Culture and Badass Breeder. Both of which are thoughtfully designed to support the healthy development of confident, resilient, and emotionally well-balanced puppies.

Our puppies are gently guided through key developmental milestones. We introduce purposeful enrichment, foundational training, and age-appropriate socialization experiences to help them become well-adjusted and adaptable companions, ready for the joys and challenges of everyday family life.

We also implement Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) in the early days (3-16 days of life) powerful practices shown to enhance brain development, improve stress responses, and strengthen the puppy’s ability to navigate the world with curiosity and confidence.

Every puppy is cherished and nurtured as a member of our family, and it is our joy and privilege to give them the very best possible start in life.

Are you a registered breeder?
Yes, we have two registrations! We are proud members of the Master Dog Breeders & Associates (MDBA) and Responsible Pet Breeders Australia (RPBA), and we are also RightPaw verified. These memberships reflect our commitment to ethical breeding practices and the welfare of our dogs.

What is your payment and puppy allocation process:
1. Application:
All prospective families complete a detailed application form (via our website or RightPaw) so I can learn about your lifestyle, expectations, and the type of companion you are hoping for.

2. Reservation Deposit:
Once the puppies reach 2 weeks of age - selected families/individuals will be invited (via email) to reserve a place in the litter with an $800 non-refundable deposit. This secures your position in the puppy allocation order (not a specific puppy). However, I always do my best to keep personal preferences in mind during the allocation process (please see Step 4). Total price for one of our puppies is $4200.

3. Litter Visits:
Selected families are warmly welcomed to visit the puppies from approximately 5–6 weeks of age to view and interact with the puppies.

4. Temperament Assessment & Matching:
At 6–7 weeks, each puppy undergoes a temperament assessment alongside our ongoing behavioural observations. Puppies are then carefully matched with families based on length of time on the application list. While I always take into account each family’s preferences for gender and colour, my priority is ensuring the best possible temperament and lifestyle match for your home. Families who have been on my waiting list the longest are given the first opportunity for their preferences to be considered.

5. Final Payment:
Is due when puppies reach 7 weeks of age, this will be communicated via email.

6. Going Home Day:
Puppies join their forever families at 8 weeks of age.
